Tour Overview

Porto, Lisbon & Algarve by First-Class Train is a 12-day, 11-night Portugal vacation combining Lisbon, Porto and the Algarve. Travel between Portugal’s major regions by first-class train, with selected transfers, breakfast accommodations, guided sightseeing and several free days to explore at your own pace.

The journey begins with an overnight stay in Lisbon before continuing by train to Porto for three nights. Explore Porto on a guided city tour and a walking tour through the historic center, including a Six Bridges cruise on the Douro River. Continue south for four nights in the Algarve, then return to Lisbon for three nights featuring a half-day Sintra excursion and a Tuk Tuk food and wine experience.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive in Lisbon

Arrive at Lisbon Airport, where you will be met and assisted in English before a transfer to your hotel. Check in for one night on a bed-and-breakfast basis and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure.

Day 2 - First-Class Train from Lisbon to Porto

After breakfast, check out of your Lisbon hotel and transfer to Oriente railway station. Travel in first class to Porto, a journey of approximately three hours. Upon arrival at Porto Campanhã station, transfer to your hotel and check in for a three-night stay.

Day 3 - Half-Day Porto City Tour

Join a guided regular tour from the designated meeting point to explore Porto and its historic center along the Douro River. Highlights include Porto Cathedral, the Stock Exchange Palace, São Bento train station, historic streets and squares, and views of the Lello Bookshop. Entrance to the Lello Bookshop is not included. The tour also includes a visit to a Port wine cellar with a tasting.

Day 4 - Porto Secrets Walking Tour & Six Bridges Cruise

Discover another side of Porto on a guided walking tour through narrow alleys, stairways, hidden viewpoints and historic neighborhoods. The experience also includes a 50-minute cruise on the Douro River with views of the six bridges connecting Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia. The tour departs from a designated meeting point.

Day 5 - First-Class Train from Porto to the Algarve

After breakfast, check out of your Porto hotel and transfer to Porto Campanhã railway station. Travel in first class to Tunes in the Algarve, a journey of approximately five and a half hours. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and check in for a four-night stay.

Days 6-8 - Algarve at Leisure

Enjoy three free days to experience the Algarve at your own pace. Relax by the coast, explore nearby towns and beaches, or arrange optional sightseeing and activities.

Day 9 - First-Class Train from the Algarve to Lisbon

Check out of your Algarve hotel and transfer to Tunes railway station. Travel in first class to Lisbon, a journey of approximately three hours. Upon arrival at Oriente station, continue to your Lisbon hotel by taxi or rideshare at your own expense. Check in for a three-night stay with breakfast.

Day 10 - Half-Day Sintra, Cascais & Estoril Tour

Join a regular guided tour from the designated meeting point to Sintra, a UNESCO World Heritage destination known for its historic center and picturesque streets. Continue to Cascais and Estoril before returning to Lisbon.

Day 11 - Lisbon Tuk Tuk Food & Wine Experience

Explore Lisbon by Tuk Tuk on a 2½-hour experience combining history, city views and Portuguese gastronomy. Travel through characteristic Lisbon neighborhoods including Bairro Alto, Chiado and Rossio, enjoy panoramic views over the city and sample Portuguese tapas and wines.

Day 12 - Depart Lisbon

After breakfast and hotel check-out, transfer from your Lisbon hotel to Lisbon Airport for your departure.

Rates & Dates

Rates are per person in U.S. dollars.
Rates do not include city taxes, where applicable. These must be paid directly to the hotel at check-in.
Dates shown are for the tour's land departure. If you are taking an overnight flight to reach the departure city, plan to leave one day earlier than the date shown.
Depending on the hotel, some triple rooms may accommodate the third guest on an extra bed that may not be suitable for a larger adult.

Flights

International flights are not included. Inter-island flights are included only when specifically stated in the package itinerary.
We cannot book airline seat assignments. Any seat-selection fees must be arranged and paid directly with the airline after tickets have been issued.
Rates for multi-island packages include inter-island airfare when specified in the program.

Comfort Hotels

Porto - HF Tuela Porto

Located in Boavista, one of the most important business and shopping centers in Porto, some of the main tourist attractions are just around the corner from the hotel, such as the gardens of Palácio de Cristal and their amazing views, or the banks of the Douro river.

Albufeira - Hotel Velamar

This property is a 11-minute walk from the beach. This hotel was fully renovated in 2016 and reopened with a Boutique hotel concept. It is located in Olhos D'Água in the Albufeira region. Velamar Boutique Hotel features lavish amenities, including an outdoor pool surrounded by sun loungers and parasols.

Each guestroom is elegantly furnished and has a luxury bathroom. A balcony with views over the tranquil fishing village or the Atlantic Ocean is featured in some of the bright, air-conditioned rooms.

A breakfast buffet is served in the modern breakfast room which features panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean.Guests can relax with drinks and refreshments at the hotel’s bar. Free WiFi is available.

Hotel facilities include a bicycle and car rental service. Free private parking is provided by Velamar. The Velamar is less than a 5-minute drive from Maria Luísa Beach and the historic Albufeira Old Town. The Balaia and Pine Cliffs golf courses are within 1.2 mi and Faro International Airport is 19 mi away.

Lisbon - Turim Restauradores Hotel

Turim Restauradores Hotel offers comfortable and affordable rooms in a prime location in the heart of Lisbon, just a few minutes’ walk from Rossio Station.

All bedrooms at Turim Restauradores Hotel have satellite TV and an private bathroom. Restauradores Square is a short walk from the hotel.

The Turim Restauradores Hotel's facilities include a lounge and TV room, where you can relax after a day of sightseeing. It is 0.6 mi to the historic Tagus riverfront.

Turim Restauradores Hotel is 4.3 mi from Lisbon Airport. An on-site car rental service is available.

Superior Hotels

Porto - HF Ipanema Porto

HF Ipanema Porto offers modern rooms with LCD TV and 24-hour, secure parking. Specially furnished family rooms are also provided. Boavista Roundabout is 1700 ft away.

With free Wi-Fi, all rooms have been refurbished and include air conditioning, double-glazed windows, a minibar, and a fully contained bathroom. Room service is also available.

There is an on-site business center. Guests can use the laundry facilities, babysitting services, request for car rentals, tour and excursion arrangements. In room massages are also available.

Guests can enjoy a variety of drinks at the bar.

The Ipanema Porto is ideally surrounded by Porto’s commercial district, restaurants, and bars. Casa da Musica subway is nearby.

Massarelos is a great choice for travelers interested in gourmet food, history and shopping.

- Oceano Atlantico Apartamentos Turisticos

Contemporary 4 Star apartments on the Algarve coast, Portimão city center and Praia Da Rocha Beach are both a 5-minute drive away.

Each apartment is spacious with full kitchenette, flat-screen TV, washing machine and a private bathroom with tub and amenities.

There's an outdoor and indoor swimming pool.

The Restaurant Oceano Atlantico are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Cocktails and light meals are served at Oceano Atlantico Bar.

Portimão Railway Station is 1.9 mi from the Oceano Atlantico Apartamentos. Parking in a garage is available for a surcharge. Alto Golf Course is 0.9 mi away.

Lisbon - Turim Saldanha Hotel

Nestled in the heart of Lisbon, the TURIM Saldanha Hotel boasts a restaurant and bar for guests to enjoy. The hotel is conveniently situated just 1,312 feet from Eduardo VII Park and Saldanha, with two metro stations within a 5-minute stroll.

The inviting rooms are furnished with a flat-screen satellite TV and a private bathroom, which includes either a bath or shower, along with complimentary toiletries and a hairdryer.

The elegant Liberty Avenue, known for its upscale shops and boutiques, is only 0.7 miles away. The TURIM Saldanha Hotel is a mere 15-minute metro ride from both Chiado and Rossio. Additionally, the famous São Jorge Castle is located 2.5 miles from the hotel. The closest airport is Portela Airport, situated 4.5 miles from the property.

Booking & Policies

Booking Your Land-Only Vacation

A non-refundable, non-transferable deposit of $350 per person is required to confirm and hold your reservation.
Vacation departure dates, itineraries and prices are subject to change until your reservation is confirmed.
Final payment is due 55 days before departure.

Booking Your Vacation With Air

This vacation does not include an airfare option. We can hold your land reservation while you arrange your flights. Once you confirm your air itinerary, we can proceed with collecting the required deposit and confirming the land portion of your vacation.

Cancellation Policy

The $350 per person deposit is non-refundable.
For cancellations made 55 days or more before arrival, the cancellation charge is $350 per person.
For cancellations made 54 days or fewer before arrival, no-shows and unused services, no refund will be provided.
A cancellation is considered valid only after we have received the request and confirmed the cancellation to you.

Refund Fees

Any credit-card processing fee assessed when a payment is made will be deducted from any refunded amount. This also applies to deposits refunded because requested services are unavailable for the requested travel dates.

Booking Changes
