Lisbon & Porto by First-Class Train is an 8-day, 7-night Portugal vacation combining four nights in Lisbon with three nights in Porto. Travel between Portugal’s two largest cities by first-class train, with airport and rail-station transfers, guided sightseeing, breakfast accommodations and time to enjoy each destination at your own pace.
In Lisbon, explore Sintra, Cascais, Belém and central Lisbon on a full-day small-group tour, then experience a traditional Fado dinner and show. Continue north by train to Porto for a guided city tour and a full-day Douro Valley excursion with lunch, a river cruise and Port wine tasting.

Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrive in Lisbon
Arrive at Lisbon Airport, where you will be met and assisted in English before a private transfer to your hotel. Check in for a four-night stay on a bed-and-breakfast basis and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure.
Days 2-4 - Lisbon, Sintra, Cascais & Fado
During your Lisbon stay, enjoy the included sightseeing and evening experiences. Exact operating days and meeting details will be confirmed with your travel documents.
Full-Day Sintra & Lisbon Small-Group Tour
Depart from the designated meeting point by minivan for a full day combining Sintra, Cascais, Belém and central Lisbon. In Sintra, enjoy a guided visit focused on the exterior areas and gardens of Pena Palace, with the applicable ticket included, followed by free time in the historic center for independent exploration and lunch at your own expense.
Continue to Cascais for free time in this seaside town before returning to Lisbon. In Belém, see Belém Tower and the Monument to the Discoveries, stop at Jerónimos Monastery and enjoy an included tasting at Pastéis de Belém. The tour finishes with a panoramic route through central Lisbon, passing areas and landmarks including Estrela, São Pedro de Alcântara, Cais do Sodré, Ribeira das Naus, Praça do Comércio, Largo Camões, Rossio and Restauradores.
Fado Dinner & Show
Enjoy an included dinner, drinks and live Fado performance at a traditional Fado restaurant in Alfama or Bairro Alto. Transportation between your hotel and the restaurant is not included.
Day 5 - First-Class Train from Lisbon to Porto
After breakfast, check out of your Lisbon hotel and transfer to Lisbon Oriente train station. Travel in first class to Porto Campanhã station, where a transfer will take you to your hotel. Check in for a three-night stay on a bed-and-breakfast basis.
Days 6-7 - Porto & Douro Valley
Enjoy Porto and the surrounding wine country with two included guided experiences. Both tours depart from designated meeting points; hotel pick-up is not included.
Half-Day Porto City Tour
Explore Porto on a guided tour featuring the historic center and Douro riverfront. Highlights include Porto Cathedral, the Stock Exchange Palace, São Bento train station, historic streets and squares, and views of the Lello Bookshop. The tour also includes a visit to a Port wine cellar with a tasting.
Full-Day Douro Valley Tour with Lunch
Travel into the Douro Valley for a full-day guided excursion through northern Portugal’s celebrated wine region. Visit scenic viewpoints, continue to Pinhão, enjoy an included lunch and take a one-hour cruise on the Douro River. The day concludes with a Port wine tasting at a local wine estate.
Day 8 - Depart Porto
After breakfast and hotel check-out, transfer from your Porto hotel to Porto Airport for your departure.

Porto - Hotel Fenix Porto
Standing tall in a commercial area of Porto’s Boavista district, HF Fénix Porto is 1,300 feet from Casa da Musica concert hall. It features free Wi-Fi throughout and spacious rooms with cable TV.
All rooms at the HF Fénix Porto are air conditioned and include a private bathroom with a hairdryer. Rooms on the upper floors offer full views of the Douro River.
A varied buffet breakfast consisting of pastries, breads, cereals, eggs, fruits and juices is served each morning in Fénix’s dining room, which features stained-glass features in the ceiling. There is a bar and an outdoor terrace with parasols.

Booking & Policies
Booking Your Land-Only Vacation
- A non-refundable, non-transferable deposit of $350 per person is required to confirm and hold your reservation.
- Vacation departure dates, itineraries and prices are subject to change until your reservation is confirmed.
- Final payment is due 55 days before departure.
Booking Your Vacation With Air
- This vacation does not include an airfare option. We can hold your land reservation while you arrange your flights. Once you confirm your air itinerary, we can proceed with collecting the required deposit and confirming the land portion of your vacation.
Cancellation Policy
- The $350 per person deposit is non-refundable.
- For cancellations made 55 days or more before arrival, the cancellation charge is $350 per person.
- For cancellations made 54 days or fewer before arrival, no-shows and unused services, no refund will be provided.
- A cancellation is considered valid only after we have received the request and confirmed the cancellation to you.
Refund Fees
- Any credit-card processing fee assessed when a payment is made will be deducted from any refunded amount. This also applies to deposits refunded because requested services are unavailable for the requested travel dates.
