Lisbon - Half-day Private Tour

Description

This half-day tour introduces you to Lisbon, capital of Portugal, occupied by several civilizations along the centuries; Phoenicians, Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans, Moors and finally the Portuguese after 1147. You will visit St. George Castle (Castelo de Sao Jorge), including its surrounding quarter as well as Alfama, Lisbon's oldest quarter. Lisbon is linked to the heroic deeds of Portuguese maritime exploration in the 15th and 16th centuries. This was the age of discoveries and the golden era of Portugal, transforming Lisbon into the opulent center of a vast empire. Part of the wealth from these expeditions was used to build magnificent monuments in a unique Portuguese style: the extravagant Manueline architectural style, best typified at Jeronimos Monastery (closed on Monday).

Lisbon is more than just monuments. You will also visit the traditional commerce and financial areas of the city, with their 18th century buildings including downtown and the "Chiado", a choice shopping area. In short, our tour includes all the best that Lisbon has to offer.

Lisbon is a unique European city, with its own history and characteristics that no other major capital possesses such as a great climate, wonderful cuisine and friendly people.
