Description
The S. Miguel island, Azores whale watching activity provides the opportunity to watch up to twenty cetacean species that can be found in the ocean waters of the Azores islands.
Before the whale watching trip a briefing is given to go over the characteristics of the species to be observed as well as safety measures aboard, procedures of protection of species at sea, and some historical facts. On board passengers are required to wear a life vest (except on the catamaran boat) and wind breakers. The activity begins at the Whale Activity Center (Marina Pêro de Teive) in Ponta Delgada.
Daily departure times on the following type of vessels:
Fiberglass Hull (up to 36 people) - 8:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m.
Inflatable, Zodiac style boat (up to 12 people) - 8:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m.
Catamaran (up to 77 people) - 9:00 a.m. or 2 p.m.
