Tour Overview

Wonders of Portugal is a 3-day, 2-night guided tour from Lisbon combining some of Portugal’s most important historic, cultural and scenic destinations. Travel first to Sintra and the Atlantic coast, then through Central Portugal to Fátima, Batalha, Nazaré and Óbidos, before finishing with a full day in Évora and the Alentejo.

The itinerary combines UNESCO World Heritage sites, medieval villages, pilgrimage landmarks, Atlantic coastal scenery and regional food and wine. Highlights include Pena Palace, Cabo da Roca, the Sanctuary of Fátima, Batalha Monastery, Nazaré, medieval Óbidos, the Roman Temple of Évora, Évora Cathedral and the Chapel of Bones.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Sintra, Cabo da Roca, Cascais & Estoril

Depart Lisbon for Sintra and visit the colorful Pena Palace, set high in the Sintra Mountains. After the palace visit, enjoy free time in Sintra’s historic center to explore its narrow streets, handicraft shops and traditional pastry shops.

Continue through the Colares wine region to Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of continental Europe. Follow the Atlantic coast past Guincho and Boca do Inferno to Cascais, then return to Lisbon along the Estoril coast.

Overnight in Lisbon.

Day 2 - Fátima, Batalha, Nazaré & Óbidos

Leave Lisbon for Fátima, one of the world’s best-known Catholic pilgrimage destinations. Enjoy time at the Sanctuary, including the Basilica and the Chapel of the Apparitions.

Continue to Batalha to visit the UNESCO-listed Batalha Monastery, an outstanding example of Portuguese Gothic architecture. Travel onward to Nazaré, known for its Atlantic setting and panoramic views from the Sítio area.

Your final stop is Óbidos, a medieval walled village of whitewashed houses and narrow streets. Enjoy time to explore before returning to Lisbon.

Day 3 - Évora & the Alentejo

Travel east from Lisbon through the landscapes of the Alentejo to Évora, a UNESCO World Heritage city known for its Roman and medieval heritage.

Explore major landmarks including the Roman Temple, Évora Cathedral, the Church of São Francisco and the Chapel of Bones. The day also introduces the region’s traditional food, handicrafts and wine culture, including a regional wine tasting before returning to Lisbon.

  • Departure point: Marquês de Pombal Square, Lisbon.
  • Bookings should be made at least 30 days before arrival.

Nestled in the heart of Lisbon, the TURIM Saldanha Hotel boasts a restaurant and bar for guests to enjoy. The hotel is conveniently situated just 1,312 feet from Eduardo VII Park and Saldanha, with two metro stations within a 5-minute stroll.

The inviting rooms are furnished with a flat-screen satellite TV and a private bathroom, which includes either a bath or shower, along with complimentary toiletries and a hairdryer.

The elegant Liberty Avenue, known for its upscale shops and boutiques, is only 0.7 miles away. The TURIM Saldanha Hotel is a mere 15-minute metro ride from both Chiado and Rossio. Additionally, the famous São Jorge Castle is located 2.5 miles from the hotel. The closest airport is Portela Airport, situated 4.5 miles from the property.

Booking & Policies

Booking Your Land-Only Vacation

  • A non-refundable, non-transferable deposit of $350 per person is required to confirm and hold your reservation.
  • Vacation departure dates, itineraries and prices are subject to change until your reservation is confirmed.
  • Final payment is due 55 days before departure.

Booking Your Vacation With Air

  • This vacation does not include an airfare option. We can hold your land reservation while you arrange your flights. Once you confirm your air itinerary, we can proceed with collecting the required deposit and confirming the land portion of your vacation.

Cancellation Policy

  • The $350 per person deposit is non-refundable.
  • For cancellations made 55 days or more before arrival, the cancellation charge is $350 per person.
  • For cancellations made 54 days or fewer before arrival, no-shows and unused services, no refund will be provided.
  • A cancellation is considered valid only after we have received the request and confirmed the cancellation to you.

Refund Fees

  • Any credit-card processing fee assessed when a payment is made will be deducted from any refunded amount. This also applies to deposits refunded because requested services are unavailable for the requested travel dates.

Booking Changes

  • A fee of $35 per person, per transaction, will be charged for revisions or changes made to a reservation after the booking has been confirmed.

  • We strongly recommend purchasing travel and cancellation insurance. Please ask us for additional information.
