Tour Overview

Porto City Break is an 8-day, 7-night vacation based entirely in Porto, combining guided city experiences with excursions into Northern Portugal and the Douro Valley. Stay seven nights in Porto with daily breakfast and round-trip airport transfers, while discovering the city’s historic center, local cuisine, riverfront and Port wine traditions.

The package includes a Porto Tuk Tuk tour with a Six Bridges cruise, a walking and gastronomic tour, a full-day Minho excursion featuring Braga and Guimarães, and a full-day Douro Valley tour with lunch, a boat cruise and wine tasting. Free time between excursions allows you to explore Porto independently and enjoy the city at your own pace.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive in Porto

Arrive at Porto Airport, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Check in for a seven-night stay in Porto and spend the remainder of the day at leisure.

Days 2-7 - Porto & Northern Portugal

During your stay, enjoy four included experiences along with free time for independent sightseeing. The exact order of the tours may vary according to local operating schedules.

Porto Tuk Tuk City Tour & Six Bridges Cruise

Explore Porto on an approximately 1-hour-and-40-minute Tuk Tuk experience featuring many of the city’s best-known landmarks, including Clérigos Tower, Avenida dos Aliados, São Bento Railway Station, Porto Cathedral, the Stock Exchange Palace area, Rua de Santa Catarina and the Ribeira district.

At the end of the city tour, continue with a Six Bridges cruise on the Douro River for a different perspective of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia.

Departure is from the designated meeting point. Hotel pickup and monument entrance tickets are not included.

Porto Walking & Gastronomic Tour

Discover Porto’s historic center on a four-hour walking and gastronomic experience. Visit selected stops to sample local dishes and beverages while learning about the traditions, history and neighborhoods that have shaped the city’s culinary identity.

Departure is from the designated meeting point. Hotel pickup is not included.

Full-Day Minho Tour: Braga & Guimarães

Travel into the Minho region for a full-day excursion to Braga and Guimarães. In Braga, discover the city’s religious heritage, including the Cathedral and the sanctuaries of Sameiro and Bom Jesus. After an included lunch, continue to Guimarães, traditionally associated with the birth of Portugal and home to a UNESCO-listed historic center.

Lunch is included. Departure is from the designated meeting point. Hotel pickup is not included.

Full-Day Douro Valley Tour

Travel by minivan from Porto into the Douro Valley, one of Portugal’s most celebrated wine regions. Enjoy views of terraced vineyards and the Douro River while learning about the traditions of this historic wine-producing landscape.

The full-day excursion includes lunch, a boat cruise and a wine tasting, along with scenic stops and viewpoints throughout the valley.

Hotel pickup is included for the Douro Valley tour.

Free Time in Porto

Use your unscheduled time to explore Porto independently. Walk through the Ribeira district, cross the Dom Luís I Bridge to Vila Nova de Gaia, visit additional museums or monuments, enjoy the city’s restaurants and cafés, or spend more time along the Douro River.

Day 8 - Depart Porto

Check out of your hotel and transfer to Porto Airport for your departing flight.

HF Ipanema Porto offers modern rooms with LCD TV and 24-hour, secure parking. Specially furnished family rooms are also provided. Boavista Roundabout is 1700 ft away.
With free Wi-Fi, all rooms have been refurbished and include air conditioning, double-glazed windows, a minibar, and a fully contained bathroom. Room service is also available.
There is an on-site business center. Guests can use the laundry facilities, babysitting services, request for car rentals, tour and excursion arrangements. In room massages are also available.
Guests can enjoy a variety of drinks at the bar.
The Ipanema Porto is ideally surrounded by Porto’s commercial district, restaurants, and bars. Casa da Musica subway is nearby.
Massarelos is a great choice for travelers interested in gourmet food, history and shopping.

Featuring an outdoor swimming pool, this 5-star hotel has a rooftop bar with Porto and Douro River views. The HF Ipanema Park is just over half a mile from Serralves Museum and Garden.
The hotel provides a variety of rooms and suites, all with cable channels and Sport TV. A mini-bar, 24-hour room service and free Wi-Fi are also featured in all air-conditioned rooms.
Guests can enjoy their meals at the Jardim d’Inverno Restaurant or have a snack at the Twin Trees snack bar. The seaside area of Foz do Douro, with its restaurants, bars and cafes, is a 5-minute drive away.
After a session at the gym or the racquetball court, guests can enjoy a relaxing massage in the privacy of their room. Babysitting services are available.
The Ribeira UNESCO World Heritage site is a 10-minute drive from the Ipanema Park, and Francisco Sa Carneiro International Airport is 7.5 miles away.

Booking & Policies

Booking Your Land-Only Vacation

A non-refundable, non-transferable deposit of $350 per person is required to confirm and hold your reservation.
Vacation departure dates, itineraries and prices are subject to change until your reservation is confirmed.
Final payment is due 55 days before departure.

Booking Your Vacation With Air

This vacation does not include an airfare option. We can hold your land reservation while you arrange your flights. Once you confirm your air itinerary, we can proceed with collecting the required deposit and confirming the land portion of your vacation.

Cancellation Policy

The $350 per person deposit is non-refundable.
For cancellations made 55 days or more before arrival, the cancellation charge is $350 per person.
For cancellations made 54 days or fewer before arrival, no-shows and unused services, no refund will be provided.
A cancellation is considered valid only after we have received the request and confirmed the cancellation to you.

Refund Fees

Any credit-card processing fee assessed when a payment is made will be deducted from any refunded amount. This also applies to deposits refunded because requested services are unavailable for the requested travel dates.

Booking Changes

A fee of $35 per person, per transaction, will be charged for revisions or changes made to a reservation after the booking has been confirmed.
