Description
An introduction to Lisbon on a half day tour by motorcoach. Sightseeing includes: A brief stop at the Belem Tower (UNESCO World Heritage), point of departure of some of the Portuguese maritime explorations and the Monument to the Discoveries, built to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the death of Prince Henry the Navigator. Also included is the Monastery of Jerónimos, UNESCO World Heritage and a masterpiece of the "Manueline" Portuguese Gothic and the unique Royal Coaches Museum. Drive along the Tejo river to arrive in the Alfama, an old and traditional district where you will walk its narrow streets to a shop for a taste of Port wine. Continue to the downtown area of the city to admire the most important squares (praças) such as the monumental Praça do Comércio, Rossio Square and the symbolic Restauradores (restoration) Square. Then drive along Avenida da Liberdade, the "grand boulevard" of Lisbon to finish at Pombal Square with a statue of the statesman from the 18th century.
